• Manage, plan and perform risk-based operational audits for AECI and its subsidiaries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Assignments were also performed in the United States in a Sarbanes Oxley environment. • Assistance with performance of risk assessments. • Establishing audit coverage plans from the risk assessment and ensuring the audit coverage plan is executed in terms of the various audit assignments and in line with the IIA’s Professional Practices Framework. • Planning the audit i.e. developing the audit scope, objectives and budgets. • Developing audit programmes and ensuring the audit approach is applied. • Identifying controls, evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness thereof and assessing risk management. • Conducting quality control reviews of work performed by other senior auditors in the team. •Assisting in the preparation of audit findings and reports to stakeholders, including senior/executive management and the Board Audit Committee. • Auditee companies in the AECI group where audit work was conducted included a diverse spectrum such as property, service companies, manufacturing companies (Dulux, Explosives, Tioxide and Kynoch Feeds, SANS Fibres), research companies (AECI Research Department, Engineering Department, Bioproducts). • Audits cover various business processes e.g. capital expenditure, asset management, purchasing, equipment and plant maintenance, debtors, inventory management, stock and spares, manufacturing, environmental control, information systems, human resources management, payroll, cash management, contracts, contractors and fleet management. • Providing client management and staff with advice and training on Corporate Governance, King II requirements, risk management and internal controls. • Assist in preparation of Audit Committee papers. • Conducting special investigations and representing AECI in criminal and labour courts. • SAP implementaiton project.
