undersatnding pain and its modulatory and how it affects our emotions was the first step to develop a new theory to stop the transition of acute pain into chronic pain , its a great opportunity for me to be a part of a promising technique to a life without pain . we are studying the role of l-dopa in blocking pain modulation by following up with acute lower back pain subjects using fMRI scan . if we prof that dopamine can block that transition ,doctors will be able to predict whose more likely will develop chronic pain ,and whether he\she will benefit of the new treatment this research is based on many previous research at dr.Apkarian lab , the last one was the longitudinal study came up with a brain signature for diff. pain categories ( persistence and recovery ) imagine our life without pain , Dr.Apkarian's Lab \ physiology Northwestern University ,IL Show less
