Alastair joined us in 2020-2021 as a Paralegal in the healthcare litigation team, on a temp contract to cover another team member's sick leave. He got to grips with our systems and workload well, and developed a good rapport with the rest of the team, despite the obvious challenges of fully remote working during coronavirus lockdown. He successfully tackled a diverse range of chargeable and non-chargeable tasks, including court applications, settlement offers, legal research, marketing and various communications with healthcare professionals, insurer clients, brokers, expert witnesses and counsel. He was a pleasure to work with. Wishing you all the best for your future career, Alastair!

Sat with Judge Dight during various cases in the Central London County Court. Was particularly impressed by Judge Dight’s handling of a litigant in person who had a history of vexatious claiming and was aggressive in the instant hearing. Despite this, the Judge was patient and realised that she did actually have an arguable case, and took care to be objective and ensure that the claimant was provided with the proper support. Witnessed a Joint Settlement Meeting regarding a complex Personal Injury claim. Provided an alternative perspective of the role of a barrister, as I appreciated different tactics in negotiation as well as the importance of pitching a case carefully. This also enabled me to witness the culmination of a protracted legal process that clearly was very important to the client.
