Geospatial Manager

May 2019 - Dec 2021
Following a brief secondment to Tokyo I have returned home to NZ to extend our offering to the Auckland market. I will be focussing on our established laser scanning and 3D modelling service, but at the same time leading a talented team based in Melbourne and Brisbane to advance our digital twin product, VR/MR applications, GIS capability, and 3D visualisation service.

Geospatial 3D & Technology Manager
-
Jun 2016 - May 2019
In this role I managed a diverse team of talented geospatial professionals to deliver projects using cutting edge technology. Highlight projects from this period were the 3D modelling of the Palais Theatre, MLS surveys of the Westgate and Monash Freeways for expansion works, an MLS survey of the entire Eastern Freeway for design of the North East Link, detailed 3D models of Bourke Street Mall and Olympic Boulevard, and large scale Reality Models for LXRA, the Australian Grand Prix, and the Arts Centre Melbourne. Licensed Surveyor
-
Mar 2015 - Dec 2018
I obtained my License in March 2015 after five years of study and examination under Leo Bateman LS. Not only did this training cover the complexities of the cadastral system, but also the nuances of consulting including building relationships with clients, providing considered advice based on weighted evidence, and working with a team of allied professionals working toward a common goal.

Spatial Technologies Co-ordinator
-
Jul 2013 - Jun 2016
The technology revolution was coming and we wanted to be part of it. My role as Spatial Technologies Co-ordinator was to find, learn, and ingrain new technologies into our everyday surveying workflows. The key was to see through the marketing hype and critically assess new tech as it was coming to market, then find ways of applying it to our projects. During this period I established our remote bathymetric capability, drone program, terrestrial and mobile laser scanning offerings, Scan-to-BIM, data extraction and 3D modelling workflows, along with a myriad of imaging, visualisation and analysis tools. My key highlights from this role were helping establish the Christchurch office in 2014 and completing a substantial period of pro-bono work in Bangladesh training local surveyors. Show less
