Assessed the risk of complex/bariatric patients and environments; monitored all tasks performed; implemented control measures to minimise identified risks; and re-evaluated outcomes. Assessed staff with patients who had musculoskeletal injuries and reviewed workplaces; effectively used a hands-on approach and coaching to determine how tasks and environments could be improved and made easier/safer.   My time in Intensive Care gave me the opportunity to look after a wide variety of patients that were critically unwell. These cases ranged from medical cases that involved sepsis/multiple organ failure to big surgical cases like pancreatic surgeries, plastics and burns. At this time the GRI was a major receiver for big trauma cases throughout the West of Scotland so was a great place to learn. When patients are critically unwell, like they are in intensive care, this can have a huge emotional ramifications on family so a big part of the job was communication and helping families came to terms with the situation.
