As an intern, I was responsible of the 3D scanning services as well as the CAD design services. I was also tasked with assisting with 3D printing and different development projects. The designing sometimes required to reverse engineer certain parts for clients in order to create an accurate CAD. • Scan objects for clients with a 3D scanner (Metrascan) and repair 3D files (VXModèle and Magics); • Create/ modify 3D models (SolidWorks), as per client specifications, often for subsequent 3D printing; • Assist in the maintenance of the 3D printers; • Assist in the finishing process of the prints. The main task was to do technical investigations on deviated parts (visual or dimensional defects, standard procedure not followed, etc.) in order to find the root cause of a problems and suggest solutions to eliminate the defect or improve the process. The secondary tasks were short and medium term projects. An example of a short term project was to create documents used in investigations and for tracking parts. One of the medium term projects was an investigation relating to the late arrival of measuring gauges to inspection, in order to suggest a long term action plan to remedy the situation.
