At the forefront of developing innovative specialised clinical nutrition products for Metabolic Disorders, Nutrition Support and specific conditions such as Kidney Disease. The products are consumed by vulnerable patient groups including infants under the control of a qualified dieticians. Developed manufacturing protocols and processing specifications to ensure products are manufactured consistently and are reproducible. Validated and verified processes through trials and with Campden BRI on key processes. Co-ordinated pilot plant, scale up and manufacturing trials to support product/process development. Assisted the NPD team in product scale-up and manufacturing trials. Providing expertise on processing methods and parameters. Evaluated new and alternative raw materials in product application. Collaborated closely with contract manufacturers to document current practices and communicate changes to formulation and processing parameters. Transferred the production of key products to different manufacturing sites, improving the manufacturing standards. Validating mixers and testing for homogeneity to ensure a compliant process was established. Trusted to setup infant grade products at brand new co-manufacturers across Europe Implementated new ways of working with co-manufacturers. Cost saved with co-manufacturers by reviewing and improving processes. Implemented new ways of working, improving yields and driving cost down. Show less

Working with some of Unilevers' biggest brands (Dove, Sunsilk, TiGi etc) supporting projects through effective and efficient delivery and analysis of trial results. Manufacturing product prototypes and technical reports.Led research in the Hair CTC pilot plant. Designed a fully functioning silicone fouling rig and experimentally designed a work plan to establish a fully functioning methodology. Provided leadership in maintaining the pilot plant, laboratory and instrumentation. Working in a consistent manner meeting Unilevers strict Health&Safety standards.Contributed, defined and implemented pilot plant quality control measures with raw materials and products intended for human use testing. Work independently drawing up my own activity plans and those for plant technicians and operators.Another key responsibility is the delivery of Global HUTs (Home Use Tests). In the last six months I have personally delivered these to Mexico, the United States and China. These tests have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds of which I have been wholly responsible for the manufacturing of every product which is entered into the test On Time and in Full.I control the scale up of new formulations off the laboratory bench, to the 200L scale in the pilot plant to main plant trials in factories which are often 7-16tonne per batch. To do this I have to work closely with the formulation team and assess if there is a valid process route, if we have the capabilities to manufacture the formulation globally.Presenting work not only in meetings but also through quarterly technical reviews. A varied audience including the Director of Hair in Port Sunlight.Characterisation expertise working with microstructures has required a deep understanding rheology and surfactant phase chemistry. My work on ACG required routine rheology measurements and optical microscopy to establish the correct micro-sheet structure. Show less

In Charge of drawing up my own experimental Matrixes’ in order to assess the rework capabilities of key Unilever brands (Surf, Rinso, and DiG)Created unique rework matrix, tailored for each factory to suit their ways of working. The results from this rework are currently being implemented in Minburi, Philippines and Brazilian factories greatly reducing their waste disposal costs. Pilot plant testing and laboratory work – I would characterise the rheology of samples to assess the impact of the rework. This also meant working closely with colleges in the Laundry formulation team and 3rd Party fragrance houses, pulling upon their expertise and resources. This needed agile thinking and swift problem solving.Managing the temporary staff member from the formulation team to aid in this research, I draw up weekly work plans for him that would compliment my own.Trained local safety officer of the processing laboratory. Responsible for the upkeep and training on 3litre & 15litre rigs. Show less

Improved formulations of brand new shampoos, conditioner, hair waxes and aqua serums. Part of a formulation team responsible for several of Unilevers’ key home care brands. Developed novel and appealing hair innovations for marketplace exploitation, my role was a core component of the product technology design activity.Formulated a wide range of prototype products. Measurement of specific physical characteristics and the undertaking of instrumental and in-vitro evaluations.Benchmarking current products which allowed the team to assess our current position in the market. Achieved through stability testing and a range of physical/sensory measurements.Statistical analysis was used to translate the results of the benchmarking; the programs for this were created by myself. The results would determine weaknesses and show the path towards improving.Manufacturing on 3L and 5L esco rigs and formulating on the bench. Show less
