Role split into three major sections – general running of Cash Management and DFM services, undertaking research both into the state of the retail cash market and asset class analysis, and systems development. Day-to-day responsibilities for the cash management service include preforming daily and weekly reconciliations of the cash management service, ensuring that systems data correctly matches the data provided by 3rd parties, as well as authorising transactions to be made for clients. For the DFM am responsible for the quarterly review of clients’ portfolios, ensuring that their individual holdings correctly match their attitude to risk and that any in-house tactical views are reflected in their asset allocation. On top of that am responsible for authorising trades on these accounts, when asset allocation changes or rebalancing requirements necessitate trades. Research duties for both in-house use and for press purposes, consist of providing commentary on the retail cash market. This mainly revolves around the effect Funding for Lending has had on the market and the providing predictions on future changes to interest rates offered on savings accounts. Systems development involvement has been in a wide variety of different projects. Major projects have consisted of migrating spreadsheet based data into SQL tables and updating the tools to access that data and add to it. This involved the construction of many spreadsheets to make use of data source links, as well as writing macros to automate processes and to add further information to the SQL tables. Other projects involved writing macros to interface with fillable PDF files, both in extracting and inputting data into them. Others involved using VBA to mass produce individualised marketing materials. Show less
