I provide training in Assistive Technology (AT) software and hardware to disabled people, those with visual sensory impairment and those with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) (including dyslexia, AD(H)D, Asperger’s, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia) in both education and the workplace. Following an initial consultation with the end-user, training will be delivered according to their individual needs to benefit from the fully technology provided. I undertake an initial short assessment to establish specific requirements of the individual appropriate to their disability and environment. I train customers on how to use specific software or hardware according to individual’s specific requirements as stated in the needs assessment report. I regularly need to keep up to date with new assistive software and hardware. I deliver training according to Sight and Sound Technology’s quality guidelines and code of conduct to ensure training is delivered effectively. I regularly attend any relevant training or meetings and have the ability to develop existing skills. I manage post-training reports and other paperwork effectively, accurately and promptly. I maintain a high standard of presentation whilst representing Sight and Sound Technology I ensure confidentiality is respected to agreed disclosure levels. I maintain communication with my Line Manager and Training Manager in regards to progress and issues and partake in regular review meetings. I manage my own schedule as allocated by Sight and Sound Technology Training Manager.

I provide regular, individualised specialist support to students with mental health conditions through one to one sessions, in a casework approach. While I aim to build professional and supportive relationships with clients while maintaining boundaries. I also work with students who are distressed and give appropriate support to enable students to successfully complete their studies. I also work with students at risk of personal or academic crisis and provide appropriate emotional support, assessing and observing at each contact session, and escalating any issues of concern to the Student Adviser for Mental Health.I also work with clients to develop appropriate learning and study strategies which take account of individual support needs and assist clients in managing and organising their workloads, time scales and attendance in relation to meeting the core requirements of their course.In the support sessions, I regularly explore with clients any issues surrounding motivation and morale and assist clients to achieve a balance between study and personal time. While making suitable referrals to, and liaise with SSS colleagues as appropriate.I must keep accurate records and write reports in accordance with NMPH records and SSS confidentiality policy and respond appropriately if an emergency situation arises or if the mentoring relationship breaks down.I need to ensure I monitor, evaluate and review the mentoring process at regular intervals and seek supervision as required from the Student Adviser for Mental Health. I have to assist clients with problem-solving and goal setting. While assisting clients with communications with their personal tutor and academic department.It is also my responsibility to keep abreast of developments in the external environment, including changes to legislation, policy and recommended good practice in the field of mental health. While continually develop my own knowledge of specialist support.

Provide initial guidance and support to new students accessing the Counselling and Wellbeing service, including agreeing appropriate and temporary interim support arrangements, in line with established advisory principles and protocols. Provide pre-entry information, advice and guidance, including the organisation of pre-entry visits. Manage waiting lists for assessments and appointments for students registered with Counselling and Wellbeing (including mental health support) in partnership with Counsellors and the Student Adviser (Mental Health) using agreed prioritisation and risk model. Supporting the development and continuous review of Counselling and Wellbeing procedures and protocols, including prioritisation models, service level agreements, case management procedures. Match students with Mental Health Mentors in line with staff expertise, availability and student circumstances. Monitor engagement of students flagged by the service as ‘at risk’, ‘high priority’ or ‘fast tracked’ to ensure appropriate support is provided within a timely manner within the boundaries of agreed protocols. Coordinate the development of wellbeing resources e.g. online. Manage Counselling and Wellbeing enquiries and correspondence, including contact with students waiting for support arrangements. Coordinate regular Counselling and Wellbeing Team meetings. Host a regular wellbeing student drop-in session during which students needs can be identified, triaged and referred to senior clinical staff if required. Coordinate support for students accessing alternative mental health resources, e.g. Silvercloud within the boundaries of agreed protocols and procedures. Provide regular update reports and management reports to senior staff members (Counsellors, Student Adviser (Mental Health), Head of Student Guidance and Wellbeing, Head of Accessibility and Inclusion, Head of Student Support Services) regarding students registered with the Counselling and Wellbeing service.
