At AER I have developed retrieval techniques for properties of the surface and atmosphere. I have also studied application of satellite data for estimating water and energy fluxes over land as part of the NASA Energy and Water Studies program. I was a member of the leadership team for the algorithm development effort for the Conically-scanning Microwave Imager/Sounder for the National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System. In that capacity, I oversaw system performance assessment, sensor simulation testbed development, and calibration algorithm development, and was heavily involved in atmospheric algorithm system development. I am currently Deputy Project Manager for AER's role in the GOES-R Ground System implementation. Show less

I developed methods for assimilation of satellite sounder and imager data in mesoscale numerical weather prediction models. I performed research on retrieval of land surface temperatures in mountainous terrain and biases related to the satellite view angle. At the beginning of my employment there, the laboratory was called The Air Force Geophysics Laboratory, which was subsequently merged into the Air Force Research Laboratory.
