  • The Cash Shop
    • Sunderland, United Kingdom
    • Customer Service Representative
      • Jul 2013 - Aug 2015

I was employed by The Cash Shop in July 2013. My job there allowed me to gain experience due to the varied services we provide. We serve a wide variety of customers who all require different services; this has allowed me to develop my skills as both an individual worker and as part of a team as we are expected to work together on certain tasks, e.g. loans and cheque cashing. I regularly attend training courses and have partaken in many internal courses since beginning my employment there to further my skills and allow me to give the best I can to my job. The different tasks that I may undertake through my job include: cheque cashing, pawnbroking and selling foreign currency. We also deal with a high volume of retail through our hard goods which we inherit from the buyback service we provide; my job means that I can decide what to pay for a certain item and what to sell it on for, this gives me an opportunity to have some independence and decide what is best for the business, during this process I work with the customer and find out what they want/need and develop my people skills. I have been able to widen my skill set over the past year, adding skills such as cross selling to my set and also improving my financial skills and customer service skills. We have to cross sell at every opportunity; this is a skill I have gained and developed since I began working here. I have also covered staff absentees in the Sheffield branch. Show less

I worked at Unipress on a temporary three month contract while looking for permanent employment. My responsibilities included checking metal parts for various new car models and reworking the parts if needed so they were suitable for manufacturing. I worked overtime, demonstrating my reliability and showed how punctual I am; I wanted to show employers that I am employable. My job at Unipress provided me with tasks that were required to be carried out by an individual rather than in a team. This shows that I can adapt well to change as in my previous jobs, a lot of the work was as part of a group or team. This job was also different to any of my previous employment and again shows that I am adaptable and ready for a challenge. Show less

I worked at the Total/Spar Garage for 6 months in 2012. I found this job enjoyable due to my people skills and experience of dealing with customers. I was given responsibilities such as being accountable for my own cash float and making sure there were no discrepancies. This job was also challenging due to the 24 hour licensing policy and the location of the garage and could experience a high volume of people throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning. I also had the responsibility of monitoring stock and preparing stock for the morning shift. Show less

    • Bar Supervisor & Interim Manager
      • Jun 2006 - Feb 2012

During my time at Ashbrooke Sports Club, I progressed from bar staff to Club Supervisor, giving me a lot of responsibility from a young age. I was promoted due to my trustworthy and honest nature and I was heavily relied on, being trained to open and close the club from the age of 19. I worked under four different managers in my time adapted to the change and got on well with them all, on working terms and a personal level. I had big responsibilities especially when the North East firework display was on and particularly during Split Festival. We could have up to 7,000 customers across the weekend which was stark contrast to what we would normally expect. I took on more responsibility over the years as I gained experience, including handling takings, organising cash-floats, organising bar shifts, stock checks and various administration tasks. I also would be trusted to lock up the building. Show less
