Currently Seeking New Opportunities Either Temporary, Contract or Full-Time as this position will be ending early in 2023. This role is a dual one, being a Project Management well as having Site Management responsibilities. The prime function is to drive the Active Building Centre’s projects and sphere of influence across the construction and wider industry. I currently project manage four external demonstrator projects and work very closely with stakeholders at all levels to ensure KPI’s and deliverables are achieved within budgets and programme constraints. I've loved being able to play a major role in facilitating the remote monitoring and analysis of anonymous performance data metrics such as energy usage, contributing substantially to research and development goal achievement. In turn, this data will provide the best practice and benchmark levels for much of the construction industry's drive towards net zero. Day to day, I act as Facilities Manager for the John Huggett Building as well as the C35 compound complex. I play a vital role in evangelising and promoting the move to active not passive building methodology. I'm particularly proud of the fact that I have been able to make certain that the on-site facilities were managed utilising best practice at all times, implementing and managing safe systems of working and experiencing zero accidents on site. I work closely with multiple stakeholders including Governmental representatives, Key influential figures in the construction Industry, Designers, Engineers and other professionals to share best practice. Schemes I have been involved with included a retrofit PV plus BESS installation that provided a low carbon, non-export micro grid that successfully offsets the electrical power demands of existing campus buildings. After leaving ADI Pipework, I took the opportunity to work freelance in an Engineering Project Management capacity with over 30 years’ experience working with Blue Chip clients such as Rolls Royce and Arla. Even though this was only a short-term role, I was trusted to manage multiple complex pipework projects and also oversaw fabrication and welder coding training to ASME1X, AWS, EN or British Standards. We worked with large and small teams on and off site utilising multiple materials including stainless/mild steel, copper, plastics, aluminium, screwed pipework, exotic materials as well as fabrication. I personally managed contract values ranging from smaller projects of around £5,000 through to multi-site, complex projects valued in the hundreds of thousands of pounds. Show less

After leaving and divesting of my 2 specialist welding and pipework businesses, I joined a similar business, partially due to having a strong reputation gained over many years in the pipe work sector. I loved working in this role where I was fully accountable for leading the teams responsible for delivering workshop and on-site projects delivering high pressure and high viscosity stainless and carbon steel pipework engineering solutions. I was involved heavily at all stages of setting up and securing contracts valued at up to £4 Million from initial enquiry through documentation of enquiries utilising Cypher 1 software right through proposal creation, acceptance and project managing the installation itself. In stands to reason but well worth mentioning that I was responsible for identification, mitigation and management of all statutory commercial risks, negotiating final contract sums, payment and other contractual terms. In short, I was responsible for everything. This included responsibility for every operational aspect including project planning, programme creation, resource allocation, reviewing drawings, isometrics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, etc. Other areas worthy of mention include accountability for CDM Compliance, Health & Safety, Site Audits, Risk Assessment, Method Statements, Site Visits, Compliance Documentation, Handover, Final Account, Lessons Learned Reviews and much more. After a couple of years in business, it quickly became evident that there was a need for a specialist welding service needed in the market. This was a separate trading entity, run alongside PSI Ltd providing coded welding to best in class standards using common and exotic metals for the Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Petro-Chemical, Oil and Gas Industries. Our customer values ranged from £100 to £70,000 yet all work carried out necessitated strict compliance with highly demanding customer requirements utilising 2 highly skilled welders. My responsibilities included administrating and managing welding procedures, weld logs, welder qualification database management, Non-destructive Testing requirements and ISO9001 compliance and audits. I discovered an opportunity then started, ran and finally divested of the business over the course of 14 years, delivering Office, Workshop and Site Based Projects valued between £5,000 and £2 Million. As a new and growing business, I was responsible for everything from new customer generation through tender, contract agreement, risk management, statutory and legal compliance. We worked hand in glove with clients, designers, and sub-contractors to define and document scope of work, resourcing project labour, equipment, materials and everything else involved with delivery. I managed projects on and off site, creating, managing and delivering all aspects of planning, resource management, milestones, client communication and project delivery. Some of my technical involvement included: CDM compliance, contract drawing review, isometrics, P&ID’s and any other technical or practical element necessary to ensure that demanding customers were completely satisfied.
