Manager, Market Information
-
Sep 2006 - Aug 2011
I was the manager of Market Information for approximately five years. This position fell under the Director of Market Services, which in turn fell under the VP of Operations. This was an Operations position. During this period, I managed a variety of functions ranging from some Settlements type production functions to Price Validation, which was an analytical function. The two main functions that I oversaw were the market performance function and the Congestion Revenue Rights market. The market performance function was a reporting and analysis function not dissimilar to market monitoring. I oversaw this function for the entirety of my five years as a manager, in large part because my previous positions included a stint in the Department of Market Monitoring. This gave me the skills and the insight that assisted in managing the group. The Congestion Revenue Rights group (CRR, aka Financial Transmission Rights or FTRs) ran the CRR market, which was essentially an allocation and then a subsequent auction of transmission line capacity. I inherited this group prior to the implementation of nodal markets in California when it was still in development, and then shepherded the function through market launch in April 2009. Show less

Senior Analyst
-
Sep 2002 - Sep 2006
I was a Senior Analyst in a variety of positions at the California ISO. Initially, I was an Analyst in the Department of Market Analysis, specializing in Market Investigations. This position involved analyzing the behavior of market participants to determine if their bidding behavior crossed any of the thresholds for gaming and manipulation. This was an analytical position and I worked in small teams to perform the analysis. It also involved coordination with FERC, although due to the nature of the process this was limited mainly to the referral documents. I was in this position approximately two and a half years. Subsequently I moved into market design and mitigation. In this role I worked on a number of new initiatives including the design of the current CAISO bid mitigation procedures when they were vetted via the stakeholder groups. In addition to that, I assisted with the design of the virtual trading platform and a number of other initiatives, including extensive work on ancillary services. I stayed in this role until I was promoted to Manager in the Operations division. Show less
