    • Care Support Worker
      • Mar 2015 - Present

My life changed when our daughter who is now 5 years was diagnosed with Autism although the lower end of the spectrum and her motor skills are fine, She does not speak and has no sense of danger so this along with her ADHD makes her a very busy but very loving child of who I am very proud, I am a care support worker supporting adults with autism however Care Support work has been my chosen occupation since 2009, it is my own philosophy that a person cannot be taught to become a carer, being a caring person is something that comes from the heart, from this a person can then learn the skills to care for and support people in the best possible way. My work involves supporting service users around the home and also out in the community always promoting independence and encouraging service users, We go out and about on activities such as swimming, shopping trips, meals out etc. I find my work very rewarding and enjoyable making a real difference in people's lives, I feel I have developed a good understanding of autism and the importance of structured routines as a way of minimising challenging behaviours.
