Upon completion of the graduate program, I became responsible for the design of sprinkler systems including: Wet, Dry and pre-action systems, using the latest 2D and 3D CAD software. I am responsible for 3d modelling and co-ordination of projects using Autocad, Autosprink, Navisworks and on occasion, Revit. I am responsible for full hydraulic calculations for systems to FM, NFPA and LPCB standards along with aiding in project management for on-site installation crews. I am also responsible for requisitioning materials and equipment, attending client meetings, planning work schedules and document completion for client hand over.While in Mercury, I have successfully completed the basic design competence exam from the LPCB for automatic sprinkler systems, the Diatec Revit course and the Engineers Ireland Future Professional Series. The Mercury graduate program was a two year program in which I undertook substantial CPD and on the job training. During my time as a graduate, I undertook various engineers Ireland courses along with a Revit course and an LPC basic course.As a graduate, I was required to team up with four other graduates to perform a six month research project on BIM. At the end of the project, we were required to present our findings and future recommendations to the board of directors. My duties included the detailed design and drafting of sprinkler systems using Autocad/Revit/Autosprink/Navisworks, hydraulic calculation, BIM modelling, BIM validation, liaising with the client/ other divisions/supervisors, commissioning and certification, costing, material requisitioning, surveying, planning, programming and reporting, procurement negotiations, attending design/coordination meetings, ensuring standards and spec are adhered to.
