Responsible for defining specifications, managing and implementing OSS integration projects from field trial to final handover. Integrated Netcool/OMNIbus for various multinational clients including banks, telcos and supermarkets. Gained detailed Solaris knowledge and also AIX and HP/UX. Provided the bulk of Micromuse training at Swindon office and some at Micromuse HQ in Putney. Worked in parallel with Micromuse staff on large multi-discipline and heterogeneous monitoring projects.

Responsible for implementation/support of network management infrastructure and supporting software. Platforms included various Sun mid-range servers running Solaris. Applications included various proprietary Network Management systems, HP OpenView with integration into Netcool/OMNIbus and Service Management tools such as Remedy for fault management and support ticket escalation. Accredited by Micromuse as a Netcool Certified Consultant. Provided external consultancy to Timeplex clients for integration of Netcool/OMNIbus into varied network management systems. Achieved accreditation from Micromuse as a Netcool Certified Trainer to provide training for Micromuse internal staff and both Timeplex and Micromuse clients across the EMEA region.

Type Approvals Consultant

Acted as internal regulatory compliance consultant for ECI manufacturing facilities in the USA and Israel. Managed Telecoms Type Approval process throughout Europe and the Pacific Rim. Represented ECI and the UK telecoms industry (via UK trade body) at international standards committees (ETSI, BSI) for production of pan-European and International standards for electrical safety, non-speech telephony and ISDN terminals. Also assisted with ISO 9002 quality audits to support UK regulatory type approval activities, and was instrumental in ECI obtaining full “self-certification” capability for pan-European Type Approvals.

As part of a small outsourcing team, set up and managed internal help-desk and 1st-line support for large UK bank’s general insurance arm which had recently relocated to South Wales. Carried out installation and maintenance of large range of voice and data networking equipment, PCs and dumb terminals. Promoted and transferred into Type Approval consultancy part of the business, providing design consultancy for telecoms manufacturers trying to market products in the EU. Opened consultancy office in East-coast USA and worked there for 6 months during the start-up phase.
