"Differ" is the first installment of a saga that chronicles the plights of a teenage girl, Selena Winters, who discovers she is the central figure of a supernatural prophecy. The prophecy warns of an apocalypse that will lead to the enslavement of man by the supernatural realm. Torn between her duties to protect the world, keep her town safe, and study for her finals, Selena must learn how the pieces of the puzzle fit together...before time runs out for everyone she loves most. I began writing my novel, Differ, when I was eleven years old. I frequently suffered bouts of insomnia as a child, so I used this time towards completing majority of the writing process, including editing. Differ took approximately four years to complete. It was published in 2012, when I was fifteen years old. Show less

    • Community-Based Learning Fellow
      • Sep 2016 - Apr 2017

Community-Based Learning (CBL) is an experiential program offered at Mount Holyoke that requires students to work in jobs, internships, or programs within the Western Massachusetts area that contribute to the betterment of the community, alongside academic coursework. Working as a community-based fellow was an incredible experience! In my first placement, I served homeless youth. In this position, I learned about the struggles homeless youth face that often impact their academic performance negatively, including inaccessibility to a computer and other technology, strained financial resources that bar them from obtaining educational tools and materials, and inaccessibility to mental health resources to treat for behavior disorders linked to trauma. In my second placement, I was introduced to the field of public service. CBL taught me the importance of giving marginalized groups ample space to determine their own needs. Show less
