Akshita Madhu joined HeyMath! first as a college intern in the summer of 2016. Although fresh out of college, her exposure to technology and mobile application development was well above par compared to her peers and she demonstrated sound programming skills. Based on her 2 month internship, Akshita was offered a full time role as an Android developer from Aug 2016 to Aug 2017. During her one-year stint, Akshita worked on 3 new mobile apps, one an analytics dashboard for teachers and the other two to help students prepare for exams. Akshita has good analytical abilities, is up for challenges, can adapt easily to fluid situations and is a quick learner. She had to learn Java, XML, JSON, AngularJS and Nodejs on the go and familiarize herself with data retrieval, code organization, UI/UX - so as to equip herself with the necessary skills to build the apps from ideation to launch. She also learnt new programming languages to design, develop and host a live website on Heroku. I was impressed by Akshita’s ability to place usability at the heart of the product development process, visualize probable use-cases and then iterate based on feedback. She has attention for detail, does not hesitate to seek clarification to validate her approach and strives for quality in her work. Akshita pitches innovative ideas at company meetings but also listens to what others have to say, including constructive criticism. During her tenure at HeyMath!, Akshita volunteered her time for an important project, that required her Maths and Science skills, and successfully helped other teams complete their deliverables on time. She also contributed towards developing a promotional video for a product launch. Akshita is sociable with an amiable attitude, has good inter-personal skills and is very enthusiastic about participating in team-building activities. She has organized events and outings for the entire office on a couple of occasions, and even nudged and motivated people to attend. In conclusion, Akshita is a valuable asset on any team as she is hard working, intelligent, and committed to doing her best. I strongly recommend her for any position that can utilize her skills to the fullest.
