I joined FBLA because I didn't want to miss out on an opportunity to join a business club. FBLA gave me the chance to do what I was doing in DECA - learning the subtle nuances of presenting solutions to business cases and becoming a stronger, business - minded individual overall. Within my school community, there are a range of clubs that focus on humanitarian needs such as Jack.org, United Way and Amnesty, just to name a few. However, there seemed to be a lack of awareness in one particular area: wildlife endangerment. Considering how the future lies in our hands, that even one small action can create a drastic impact in our ever – changing world, the environment is of paramount importance and it is up to us to take evasive action. In the summer of 2018, I grouped up with 3 of my friends who had a similar outlook on this pressing issue, and we wanted to take on an initiative that would advocate for wildlife endangerment. So, we started a club in our school community – Glenforest Wildlife Conservation (GWC). Our aim is to open student’s eyes to the unfortunate reality of our environment, to the diminishing populations of countless numbers of species, to the depletion of numerous habitats, and as Co – President, my personal aim is to spark inspiration within each student; that every step we take in advocating for wildlife endangerment will ensure a brighter future.

Being a member of DECA was one of the best decisions I made throughout high school. It gave me a chance to show my passion and enthusiasm for business. In both of the years I was in DECA, I was in the entrepreneurship category. In my second year, I won a top 10 oral role-play award for presenting a modern solution to a business case, for which hundreds of students were competing to win.
