During PhD, I have both led a project and contributed to other projects as part of a team. My project focused on patterns of protein evolution, where I designed computational workflows to integrate protein structure prediction with programs to estimate parameters that describe the patterns of amino acid substitution over evolutionary time. I also contributed computational expertise for projects focused on avian evolution, including one that used genotyping-by-sequencing. I have the background to understand and analyze genomic data.Key Accomplishments:* Developed a pipeline in Perl to automate data mining from large genomic datasets resulting in 3 collaboration projects, $100,000 grants funding and 1 publication.* Identified a problem with model-based approaches in tree-building methods and developed code in Perl to test a solution leading to a publication.* Created a bioinformatics analysis pipeline to integrate existing tools for analyzing next-generation sequencing datasets for 13 bird populations with 300 individuals.* Designed a study to understand the effect of adding genomic data on model-based tree-building methods to enhance reproducibility of the product.* Adept public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills, spoke at 4+ conferences, authored 3 manuscripts and taught 3+ courses Show less
