Some solar developers believe larger systems result in the best returns for them. We build at community scale, typically 1 - 5MW systems requiring less than 30 acres, because we believe smaller systems strategically sited can reduce line losses, and because we are concerned about the amount of agricultural land taken out of production and finally, because we want to work with small landholders who either do not have, or are not interested in using vast amounts of land for a solar project. We are a small (but mighty) team based out of North Carolina that came together around a shared vision of developing renewable energy in rural America. Having seen it done in ways that disregard the needs of the people closest to projects, we developed a model - innovative and resourceful like rural America - that centers equity, local control, and the financial needs of those who have historically been sidelined from America’s prosperity.
