  He was awarded Ph.D in Agricultural Economics with minor in Statistics during 1987 from G.B.P. University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Distt. Nainital, Uttarakhand.He joined Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as Scientist S-1 on Sept. 19, 1977. He went on to become Principal Scientist during 1998, which, he continued up to superannuation on March 31, 2016. During this period Dr. Verma was In-Charge, Section of Social Sciences and later was officiating Head, Division of Post Harvest Management. His major responsibilities during the service carrier were research and administration. He, along with other subject matter scientist, conducted a ‘Techno-economic Feasibility Report on Agri-Export Zone for Mango Industry in Lucknow Region’ on the basis of which Central Government and Government of Uttar Pradesh established Agri-Export Zone for Mangoes at Lucknow and Saharanpur and opened Mango Pack houses.He was also programme Coordinator and/or Consultant for IGNOU programme 1) “Diploma in Value added Products from Fruits and vegetable (DVAPFV) and 2) Certificate in Organic Farming (COF). I am still continuing as Consultant Certificate in Organic Farming (COF) even after superannuation. I also worked as In-Charge ARIS Cell, which involved its establishment and management.Dr. Verma attended a short term training on “Assessment of Post Harvest Losses” at Division of Agricultural Economics, Georgia Experiment Station (UGA), Griffin, USA from Dec. 8, 1988to April 8, 1989.He also worked as In-Charge Training Programme of the CISH and conducted numerous trainings for the Institute and NATP, National Horticulture Board, Directorate of Horticulture and Food Utilization, Government of UP, and many other sponsors.He is currently working as Director, Institute Of Agricultural Sciences And Technology, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University.
