Tahir Javed
Aitemad worked in my team while I was leading operation of Fauji Fertilizer plant 2 commissioned in 1992. He was lead project engineer at that time responsible to resolve outstanding engineering issues of the newly commissioned project. I found him an extremely competent ,hardworking and intelligent engineer who would always apply his sound knowledge to suggest innovative engineering solutions. He would always be willing to accept tough challenges and go an extra mile to the targets. He was an outstanding performer of the team who could be trusted for handling complex problems.We benefited a lot from his valuable inputs in developing and implementing quality management system for the plant . Joined the PTA Aromatics project of Ibn Rushd, as Machinery Inspection Engineer and was promoted to the post of Construction Superintendent Feedstock (Butane and Propane) just after three months due to versatile project and maintenance experience. A few months after joining, the company removed PMC due to unabated schedule slippage and the project was managed directly by PMT. As Fauji employee, I was seconded to the newly established FFC Jordan Fertilizer Co (now known as Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim). as Senior Engineer and was assigned the post of Inspection (Integrity assurance) Section Head. This was a green field project designed by the consortium of M/s Krebs (Tespec), France, M/s Klocner, Germany and Descon & HRL of Pakistan. The fertilizer producing plants were new while the Ammonia plant was an old (1964) plant relocated from St. Louisiana, USA and refurbished following international codes and original designer M/s Bechtel, USA’s design guidelines (BEP). ♦ Assessed condition of old Ammonia plant equipment and proposed refurbishments for future operation. ♦ Proposed equipment replacement costs and schedules based on prevailing conditions. ♦ Guided the contractors for refurbishment and verified quality of works. ♦ Managed NDT and Destructive Testing to ensure quality for static and rotary equipment and piping.
