I currently work as a senior outpatient Physiotherapist in the Rheumatology service based in Harold's Cross. My role involves; - Managing a caseload of patients with complex Rheumatic conditions and/or persistent pain conditions. - Triaging and managing referrals and analysing referral pathways with key stakeholders. - Mentoring staff grade Physiotherapists. - Developing the service through the production of policies and guidelines along with senior management. - Effective communication with the wider MDT including occupational therapists, clinical nurse specialists, advanced nurse practitioners, registrars and consultant rheumatologists. - Referral into community services when appropriate. - Liaising regularly with aquatic physiotherapy colleagues. - Participating in, and leading, weekly and monthly team meetings across the different teams. 1-year full time working on in-patient Major Trauma and Orthopaedics which involved; Developing guidelines on the management of upper limb trauma for therapists.Working alongside the clinical specialist to develop post-operative plastic surgery guidelines (rotational flap surgery, split skin grafts, full thickness skin grafts) for trauma patients. Providing in-service training to the team. Providing specialist guidance and management plans to patients with complex trauma and fractures. Work as a developing senior in the management of lower limb reconstruction patients. Completing a full musculoskeletal assessment following the tertiary survey to ensure no injuries were missed. Liaising regularly with junior doctors, registrars and consultants regarding patient care and escalating concerns. Referrals into community services and out-patient physiotherapy. 5 months full time working in out-patient ‘upper limb’ rotation, which involved; Running the hand therapy clinic twice a week alongside the clinical specialist hand therapists, registrars, and consultants. Escalating concerns such as potential infection, tendon rupture, re-dislocation, etc. Holding a mixed caseload of patients with referrals from Rheumatology, Oncology (post operative musculoskeletal/plastics issues), Orthopaedics (from in-patient wards, from out-patient clinics, post-operative and post-trauma / post-polytrauma). Completing occupational health clinics for staff self-referral. Continuing to work weekends on Orthopaedics as required, acting as the team lead. 9 months full time working in out-patient ‘lower limb’ rotation, which involved; Running lower limb reconstruction rehabilitation classes once a week. Escalating issues such as pin site infections, as appropriate. Running the minor injuries clinic once a week, managing referrals and escalating as appropriate. Acting as a clinical educator for a physiotherapy student. Act as the infection control link practitioner for MSK. Show less
