I work alongside the general practice team daily to improve patient safety, and therapeutic outcomes through a person-centred approach. I deal with acute & repeat medicine queries and carry out structured medication reviews for patients with ongoing health problems, many on complex regimens. I am available for all medicine-related queries and regularly reconcile hospital discharges ensuring patient's care remains consistent during their transfer back into the community setting. This role helped me grow as a leader, and feel more confident as I constantly developed my skills as a pharmacist. I provided all commissioned and advanced services, ensuring all paperwork and data was up-to-date and secure. I had a leading role in patient safety, and healthy living pharmacy campaigns, and through my time at Boots I have became well versed in preparing end of month, minimising pharmacy loss and partaking in the quality payment scheme. This role allowed me to take a more clinical role, and become more invested in caring for my patients. I worked closely with local doctors surgeries to provide high quality care. For a short time within this role, I was the most senior member of staff within the shop as the manager had a leave of absence. This challenge enabled me to step forward into a manager’s role, and I feel I really flourished in this position. I lead the team into meeting set targets, ensured the pharmacy was effectively completing daily tasks and I also supervised the introduction of a brand new dispensing system, ensuring all staff were partaking in training. All of this, whilst clinically developing my knowledge and ensuring medications were being dispensed safely and patients were achieving positive therapeutic outcomes.

This role enabled me to grow in confidence as a pharmacist as I travelled around various shops within Liverpool faced daily with different circumstances, teams and patients. I have developed a range of relationships between patients, healthcare professionals, and staff. I have become quick to adapt with each new situation, and enhanced my problem-solving skills. It is within this role that my skills to provide a high level of quality patient-centred care became enhanced.
