Classroom Teacher
-
Jul 2020 - Feb 2022
Currently teaching in a year 7/8 composite class in West Auckland. Having taught at this school for a number of years on and off in a relief setting, I was lucky enough to be offered a full time job in 2020. I pride myself on strong relationships with staff, students and whānau in the school community. While currently provisionally registered, I should (all things going well) become fully registered in December 2021 where I will have completed my two full years of teaching service. As a beginning teacher, I am involved in a mentor programme where I have guidance and support from an experienced educator, showing me the ropes of the profession. I have branched out and taken on the responsibility of the sports management unit while teaching, which means that I also run the sporting programme at our school. Co-ordinating zone days, sports orders and equipment, organising after school sports and liaising with schools within our zone to ensure a streamlined approach to sports and the opportunities our students are offered. Relief Teacher
-
Nov 2018 - Feb 2022
While I am training full time with the Mystics, I am also keeping myself involved in the education sector when I have the time. This has seen me move from a full time teaching role to a relief teaching position where I am able to go into different schools and teach various age levels around the Auckland area. This has given me great insight into the many cultures and diverse natures of the schools around this city, and I am privileged to support great teachers, students and communities in doing so. I have used this blog as an outlet for my true passion. I prefer to write based off my own experiences and challenges I have faced, as I feel this is easier for readers to connect and relate to. I am currently getting back into the consistent writing and putting out content for people to read, I tend to get around 2000+ views per blog post, and this continues to rise as I post more frequently. My dream job would be to write for a living, and while it doesn't necessarily have to be based on personal experience, putting words onto paper is a passion of mine. Show less

Customer Service Operations
-
Apr 2018 - Oct 2018
No two days are the same, as I deal with both AU and NZ incoming orders and requests from customers and sales reps. I handle both phone and email communication, and enter data daily. Creating and processing orders are a huge part of my day, and it means I am always working in a pressure environment and I manage to still meet my tasks and complete them. Working as a sales consultant, I strive each month to reach my personal KPIs and targets as set out by the company. I am currently doing well in regards to this, and last month I exceeded my target by a fair amount. The shop floor is a high-volume, high-pressure environment, and i am able to deal with customers queries at ease. Working in a team environment allows me to grow alongside my colleagues, and through observing and watching others I have been able to refine my customer service skills. If it wasn't for moving back to New Zealand, I would have stayed on at Vodafone for years to come, it was a privilege to work for Vodafone Hutchison. Show less

Teacher

Jan 2017 - Apr 2017
I was in charge of a classroom at Northcote Intermediate where I was able to plan and outline the learning from the beginning of the year. I was able to sit in on team and staff meetings where we discussed the schools vision and values, and these discussions enabled us to collaboratively create an overall curriculum for our school. I had signed a permanent contract, however my situation changed and I had to had in my notice at the end of Term One. Apr 2009 - Apr 2017
For the past nine years I have had the opportunity to work alongside children during their school holidays in a netball coaching environment. This experience has enabled me to work with a team where we had to plan and coach necessary skills to children of all ages, and ensure that the children were enjoying themselves during the programme. Sep 2016 - Dec 2016
I was the lead teacher of a classroom at Northcote Intermediate, stepping into the role after the previous teacher left. I had sole responsibility of the classroom in regards to planning, management, and learning which gave me a great insight into the education sector. I worked collaboratively in a team, and used my mentor teacher for further tips and advice on how I could build on my current skills. I started to build a collaborative relationship with my parents, and I was in regular communication with them via email. I established working relationships with my students, and learnt about them to ensure that I could cater the learning activities to their needs. Show less

Relieving at Northcote Intermediate School gave me great experience with the older students at the primary level. While I would sometimes go into classrooms with days planned out for me, there were many times where I had to think on my feet and improvise with the day due to weather and behaviour changes. This position was a full time contract, where I was required to meet certain training gains and fulfil promotional obligations. I needed to manage my time effectively, interact with the community, and present myself in a professional and friendly manner at all times. Due to the public position this opportunity put me in, I was invited to speak at many events to inspire and motivate others. I took on the role of head teacher for a Year 5 and 6 composite class while the usual teacher was overseas. During this time I was given full control and access to the planning materials, and created a four week plan for both myself and the students to follow. Even though I was only at the school for a short time, I created positive working relationships with both staff and students, I participated in staff and team meetings, and I assimilated into the school community and activities. Working part time at Backdoor Surf alongside studying was an exciting opportunity, where I got the chance to utilise my people skills and interact with customers on a daily basis. Not coming from a surfing background meant that I had a go the extra mile in learning about all of the hardware and technical aspects of the job, to ensure that I was able to provide a positive experience for the customers.
