  UniTY is a programme linked to DCU which aims to provide educational opportunities to Transition Year students living in communities in Dublin which are at present underrepresented in higher education. My main role is to help these students brainstorm ideas, teach them some camera skills while also organising and presenting video workshops. These workshops include the students brainstorming concepts from the themes provided by the programme, then continuing on to filming their project and also editing their footage on the laptops and software provided by the programme. It is a very fulfilling and rewarding job as you are able to help students learn new skills that they will hopefully take with them and progress.

  While working in Castle Leslie, I helped prepare the castle for events such as weddings, parties, afternoon tea, breakfast and dinner but my main role was working as a waitress. It was an extraordinary experience working here that I feel I may not get anywhere else, as we were trained up to such a high standard for a truly remarkable and magical place. I had to work at various weddings and parties and encountered many celebrities along the way which encouraged me to obtain a professional persona in these situations. From working in the castle at such a young age, I gained many skills such as punctuality, planning, organising, problem solving, team work, negotiation, ability to work under pressure, confidence and communication skills, among many others.The experience that I gained while working in Castle Leslie will stay with me for a very long time.
