Specialised in corporate litigation covering contractual and commercial disputes. Practice areas included debt recovery, shareholder disputes, banking matters, insolvency and probate. Has litigation and drafting experience in all court levels. Scope of work included alternative dispute resolution and corporate advisory. Notable engagements were:♣ Shareholder disputes: Defended five simultaneous minority oppression suits involving multiple special vehicle companies, its directors and its holding public company. Due to its complexity and volume, the five originating summons were converted into a writ action and trial is still ongoing. ♣ Banking matters: Successfully defended a bank from a tort claim for damages in the sum of RM33 million stemming from an alleged breach of fiduciary duty regarding the sale of a charged property. ♣ Bursa Malaysia Bhd (“Bursa”) investigation: Represented and advised a foreign trading house in an investigation conducted by Bursa on its employees for market manipulation. Rendered an opinion regarding the likelihood of penalty against a trading house and advised on methods in which to improve compliance levels.♣ Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (“MACC”) investigation: Represented and advised a foreign oil and gas company during an investigation by the MACC of a former employee for corruption.
