Aimee Schmidt serves as a Congressional Liaison for CCL with Congressional members from Maryland. In this area she has excelled. Aimee keeps in close contact with her Senators and Representative concerning issues about climate change. She works with these offices to help formulate a strategy to put into law a fee and dividend bill supported by CCL. This work requires that she sets schedules for CCL members to lobby these members during the CCL International Conference in June 2015. She also helps connect the members with like-minded colleagues on both sides of the aisle, which is no small feat in today's Congressional environment. To assist all CCL, she has culled out a list of potential sponsors from those opposing the CCL proposal and developed detailed biographies on each official to help CCL members to connect with those elected representatives. This allows conversations to develop in a positive and respectful manner, which facilitates reaching mutual agreement on how to proceed in the climate change arena. She has my strongest endorsement in the area of Member of Congress Liaison.
Maggie Monast
Aimee was contracted to model and quantify the socioeconomic benefits of implementing nutrient management strategies to improve drinking water quality in NC's Coastal Plain. Her strong technical skills, integrity, reliability, and professionalism translated into her investment in the project’s success. Aimee's dedication and perseverance throughout this project were instrumental in providing the ecological data and economic insight needed to support EDF's agriculture sustainability initiative.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team of analysts, advising stakeholders about the socioeconomic benefits of alternative land-use strategies. We quantify tradeoffs associated with alternative management choices and identify areas where investment in natural capital can enhance human development and conservation of wildlife habitat, aquatic coastline, air and water quality. Coupling market valuations with risk management tools improves conservation success while increasing business profit with a reduction in production costs. Strategic consulting services include: ▪ Economic valuation of natural capital benefits across large landscapes ▪ Ecological risk assessment ▪ Non-market valuation of natural capital assets ▪ Socioeconomic analysis of environmental initiatives and projected outcomes ▪ Data acquisition, modeling and analysis ▪ Environmental impact assessment (EIA) ▪ Scientific and economic research, and literature reviews ▪ Quantitative and qualitative analysis ▪ Data analytics and decision management ▪ Database development and management of big data

• Prepared project work plans including overview of proposed methodology and associated uncertainty, data requirements, dependencies, estimated costs, timeline, milestones, and final deliverables. • Developed bio-economic simulation models that monetized natural capital assets and substantiated WakeNature Preserve Partnership’s $0.5M request to county commissioners for investment in natural resource conservation and visitor infrastructure. • Discovered errors in economic modeling software and worked closely with developers to correct and improve underlying equations, improving accuracy, usability, and reliability. • Heightened stakeholder awareness of open space value based on ecosystem service benefits of climate regulation, water purification, and provisioning of wildlife habitat. • Analyzed complex biophysical and socioeconomic data that measured local and regional sustainability indicators of public benefits pursued by Triangle Land Conservancy. • Calculated economic potential of carbon offset payments and wetland mitigation banking credits that met university's land endowment revenue targets, providing financial analysis that cost-justified alternative land-use in North Carolina’s Hofmann Forest. • Developed discussion framework that facilitated WECO’s community outreach program designed to elicit stakeholder ideas for improving watershed water quality. • Prepared cost-benefit analysis of producer compliance with proposed animal waste regulation that identified economic inefficiencies resulting in a "no go" recommendation. • Assessed sustainability of crop production practices in Costa Rica through onsite soil analysis that identified chemistry and quantity of nutrient loading to surface water. • Revised agricultural extension publications to reduce ambiguity and improve understanding of legal issues present in estate planning transactions. • Supported academic research and corporate partner growth trials.
