Within this nuclear research facility I was assigned to analytical chemistry research group. Research was conducted on the liquid-solid phase extraction for uranium inside microchannels. The tasks involved handling radioactive material in restricted areas, where solutions were prepared, tested and analysed with inductively coupled plasma- mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Gained insight into the waste water treatment processes. Exposed to validation procedures for new plants and upcoming plants. Was given the opportunity to design and install a flocculation basin for pre-treatment of water, thus learning time and project management skills, dealing first-hand with suppliers and developed research skills. Communication skills also developed due to feedback sessions to my superior. Was able to perform jar tests , thus furthering my laboratory and data handling skills
