I am the first point of contact for IT issues and support requests on a day to day basis, supporting a wide variety of different systems, such as Office 365, Windows, Android and Apple devices, telephony among other more specialised equipment and software to support both the administration and football side of the business. I am directly responsible for the digital signage solution we have implemented across our head office and also our mobile phone procurement and the deployment of these devices through our mobile device management solution Microsoft Intune. Being heavily involved in all stages of their deployment, and their ongoing usage has given me the chance to continue expanding my knowledge as business needs continue to change and it has been an exciting challenge for me. This has also opened the door for me to become more involved in newer system implementations such as our MFA and SSO solution, web filtering solutions and also our more recent shift in operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic in which we rolled out a number of important changes to our day to day operations across the club as well as new systems for the limited spectators attending the stadium on matchdays.

I worked alongside the network manager at St Mary's to ensure all IT systems run smoothly and effectively, whilst attending to any issues that did arise in a timely fashion. Enjoying a challenge, I was able to throw myself into the deep end and learn as I went in this role, being able to deploy an Apache server running an open source digital signage solution, Xibo, across the school using reference guides I found online and with very limited prior knowledge of digital signage and Apache. I also developed on my skills of researching and implementing solutions further in this role, playing a pivotal part in researching, testing and implementing a wireless presentation solution across the school, working closely with one of our primary suppliers to explore the different possible options available to us in delivering the project.

I learned so many things whilst working as an apprentice, but the most valuable of these skills was how to conduct myself in a professional manner (as a worker who travels to different sites to provide IT support to multiple clients) and also, how to work within a business efficiently.
