  Dr. Ahmed El-Haggan heads the award-winning IT Division at Coppin State University which is in charge of all aspects of information, telecom and instructional technologies. In June 2019, he was also named Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Under his leadership, the IT division has garnered many State, National and International awards for its innovative use of technology, including being the first school in the USM to completely go wireless and earn a spot in US News and World Report’s Top 20 “Unwired Campuses”.Dr. El-Haggan has 30 years of experience in higher education. His experience in higher education is divided between research, teaching, and administering information technology. Dr. El-Haggan earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. El-Haggan was awarded a research scholarship from New Mexico State University for his published research work. He earned his Ph.D. from New Mexico State University from the Mechanical Engineering department in Computer Modeling and Simulation of Solar Energy Power Systems.He was awarded several State, National, and International citations. He was awarded the Governor Excellence Award , the State of Maryland Ambassador Pin for his excellence in teaching, and chosen as the Innovator of the Year. He received the Certificate of Merit from the Indian Engineering Society for his excellent publications. He published and presented nationally and internationally.Dr. El-Haggan has taken Coppin State University to a new IT plateau. Coppin is recognized as an IT Leader in HED. Coppin is the first university in Maryland, and the only HBCU, to receive EDUCAUSE’s prestigious Award for Excellence in Networking. Coppin was chosen by Campus Technology as an “Innovators of the Year”. Coppin was the Enterprise All Star awardee by Network World. and was inducted 5 times as a Laureate of the Computerworld Honors Program “In Search for New Heroes” for its innovative use of technology Show less
