      Conducted research on mercury and methylmercury pollution of the Ebro River basin, Spain from industrial processes (chlor-alkali plants, metals production, mining) and agriculture. Carried out site investigations, took samples (air, dust, water and sediment samples). Evaluated sampling protocols. Measured levels of contaminants and made recommendations to improve the sediment quality. Carried out an extensive research on both the well established and emerging analytical methods of methylmercury determination in environmental samples. Designed and executed a research plan to evaluate the available methodology; proposed and implemented the changes to keep the cost of a single analysis down while maintaining the high reliability of the results.
