Responsible for hardware and firmware development of the StoryPhones children’s audio product. In my time as Product Engineer at Ameeca I gained significant experience of product development, electronics manufacturing, and the life-cycle of a technology start-up. Key activities:• Product firmware development (Atmel 8051 [C – Keil uVision], TI MSP430 [C – GCC]) • Implemented best practices (distributed source control [SVN], bug/task tracking [Unfuddle]) • Co-developed custom 2.4GHz RF protocol with local university (Nordic Semi nRF24L01)• Finalised electronic design of the product (OrCAD Capture) • Worked with design house on mechanical, assembly & tooling aspects of the product• Performed DFM analysis of the prototype, reducing cost & complexity• Visited/assessed suppliers/manufacturers in order to select appropriate partners• Formed primary technical contact, established supply chain/production processes• Worked with manufacturer and suppliers to ensure continued product quality• Handled component obsolescence, second-sourcing & cost-down activities• Actively sold the product, attending trade shows & visiting customers to demonstrate the product • Implemented systems to handle returns, repairs & technical support• Designed marketing, presentation & support material (Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign)• Investigated new product & market opportunities• Laid the foundation for second-generation product (Linux-based, Freescale i.MX233 ARM 9)
