      Los Angeles Harbor College provides comprehensive transfer curricula, vocational programs and lifelong learning programs. The campus serves the South Bay region of Los Angeles and enrolled 10,511 students in the fall 2010 semester. Student equity is a high priority for Harbor College with a focus on addressing the under‐preparedness of Hispanic, African American, and disabled students to increase their retention, completion, graduation, and transfer rates. The Career Counselor reports directly to the Chair of the Counseling Division. • Provide individual and group counseling for students with academic, career, and personal concerns. • Oversee the Career & Transfer Center which is a part of the Counseling Division at Los Angeles Harbor College providing resources and counseling services to support students in achieving their transfer and career goals. • Help students in developing and achieving immediate and long-range academic and career goals through the creation of ‘Student Educational Plans’ and integrate vocational information to develop comprehensive educational plans in accordance with SB 1456. • Supervise Career Center student staff, career guidance counseling assistants (CGCA), day to day operations, and promotion of career services and activities. • Serve as instructor for one-credit career exploration course (Personal Development 04). • Assist students with online resources pertaining to career development and exploration software programs, social media platforms and the career web page maintenance. • Utilize computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access. • Utilize computer resources such as SARS, ASSIST, CSU MENTOR, EUREKA, Papervision, college central network, and other web based resources and services.       California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) a four-year university and Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and three of its feeder community colleges, Citrus College, Cypress College, and Santiago Canyon College, also HSIs, have created Strengthening Transfer Education & Matriculation in STEM (STEM)², a multifaceted project designed to encourage STEM degrees, retain students in STEM fields, produce more community college STEM transfers to four-year institutions, and ultimately baccalaureate degree attainment.
