It is envisioned this will be a space in which we provide support to our clients and delivery partners to move toward addressing sustainability and resource efficiency on a larger precinct, district or even city scale. This includes supporting research efforts to understand opportunities within the sustainable development industry and how further transformation can be facilitated, while being mindful of challenges and knowledge gaps that might be holding the sector’s evolutionary process back. Current projects include: Green Star Sustainable Precinct: Lead Green Star South Africa Sustainable Precincts AP for a project targeting a precinct-scale certification. S&J Industrial Estate EcoDistrict: Lead EcoDistricts AP on the first project outside the United States to target an EcoDistricts Certified endorsement. GHO - Green Star Africa Office v1 Design: Lead Green Star AP and project manager for the sustainability team for the Mauritian-based project targeting certification. Developing an EcoDistricts Methodology for the City of Johannesburg: Lead Sustainability Consultant and Project Manager responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team to test the concept of EcoDistricts for optimised environmental resilience and sustainability and to ultimately set improved environmental standards for Transit Oriented Development Corridors and influence new minimum City-wide standards. This process includes an assessment of the energy use intensity of a specific node translated into a carbon emissions inventory, paired with the identification of suitable interventions to drive a pathway to carbon neutrality at a future date.
