Was primarily responsible for being a subject matter expert, developing policy principles, drafting model legislation, and guiding the organization’s position on federal and state legislation within specific content areas. Major areas of expertise were focused on access to breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screenings in the new health care environment, the CDC cancer screening programs and sun safety. Other areas include survivorship, quality of life, pharmaceuticals, appropriations, and health care reform. Worked collaboratively across teams to identify the best way to promote the organization’s position. This often involved developing educational materials to be used by staff and volunteers at the state level, responding to open comment periods (USPSTF, CDC, FDA), presenting information at meetings, and monitoring and tracking activity. Maintained relationships and works collaboratively with outside stakeholders such as those with other non-profits and governmental organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to promote, develop, and improve programs and areas of interest for ACS CAN. Wrote and contributed to both ACS CAN and American Cancer Society reports such as the annual "How Do You Measure Up?” report, "Cancer Facts & Figures", and "Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Facts & Figures".
