Role and Duties of Specialist Nurse are: Urinalysis, blood pressure measurements, take E.C.G., chaperoning and assisting patients, where appropriate, when being examined by another consultant. Maintaining, cleaning and/ or sterilising equipment used by the GPs and by other member of medical staffs: matron, sisters and staff nurse. Removal of Sutures. Peak flow Readings. Venepunctures. Assisting by side of Consultants with minor surgery and PEG- gastro- tube fitting. Basic wound care/ ulcer care. New Patient Medicals files were set up, completed. Following agreed clinical protocols with referrals to nurse practitioners GPs/ Hospital Consultants as appropriate. Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs. Ensure awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of any age of adult in specially in this area work. Recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines. Ensure infection control guideline are followed. Assessment of patients and performing the health and safety pc, according to the NMC, London guideline. Cytology.
