Started position as a regular back office medical assistant, and quickly moved up to become Dr. Scott Berlin’s right hand. I traveled with him to every clinic and assisted him in a clinical setting and in the OR during outpatient surgeries, where he would show and explain all the steps he was completing in each procedure. Phone triage: Accept all patient phone calls and relay messages to providers, prescription refill requests, orders for radiological studies and/or lab tests, outgoing referrals, medical records, forms, letters of medical necessity, explain procedures to patients, obtain signed consents forms from patients, ordering medical supplies. Bring patients from waiting room to exam room, take vital signs, and update chart information. Perform urine drug screens, staple/suture removal, removal or Spinal Cord Stimulator trial leads. Interrogate and reprogram intrathecal pain pumps (limited experience in reprogramming). Prep patients for procedures at surgery center. Use of the following computer programs: IDX and Centricity EMR. Travel to different clinics and surgery centers with Dr. Scott Berlin on a daily basis. Show less
