Director of Teaching and Learning (R-12)
-
Jan 2018 - Jan 2021
This is an evolution of my previous role with an increased focus on the use of data to inform teaching and learning. Schools have access to multiple sources of data from community demographics to evidence of student learning and indicators of engagement and teaching effectiveness. It is therefore a challenge to identify and collate this data in forms that enable areas of strength to be celebrated and plan for ongoing improvement.

Director of Curriculum and Learning (R-12)
-
2002 - Jan 2018
This is a leadership role at the College with the key responsibility of overseeing the curriculum and learning programmes from Reception to Year 12. My role requires me to keep up to date with latest educational theories and practices to ensure our students are provided with the best possible learning programmes to nurture a love of learning and unlock their potential. These programmes are built upon a foundation of strong Catholic values.

IB Diploma Coordinator
-
2008 - 2015
I coordinated the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the final two years of secondary schooling. This was both an administrative and pedagogical role requiring the management of approximately 100 students and their learning programmes as well as supporting and developing best practice in teaching at the highest academic level.

-
IT Coordinator
-
1999 - 2008
This is my original role at Mercedes College in which I oversaw the development and implementation of information technology in supporting learning. I continued in this role when promoted to the position of Director of Curriculum and Learning, reflecting the integral connection between technology and learning. As technology continues to advance, new opportunities for students to engage in their learning arise. This continues to be both a challenge and source of excitement in education.

Head of Computer Studies
-
1992 - 1998
This role began at the same time as PC's and the Internet were taking the world by storm. This provided a challenge and opportunity for education and I was at the heart of pedagogical change in schools. I investigated and implemented networked solutions for the school and continually developed computer skill courses for students. Crucially, I was heavily involved in teacher development and policy writing for the school. This role began at the same time as PC's and the Internet were taking the world by storm.
