Field: Organic Chemistry and Materials ScienceProject summary: The aim is to develop and optimize hydrogels for 3D cell culture models, 3D bioprinting and drug testing. I synthesize small molecules that act as crosslinkers in the formation of hydrogels after attaching them to synthetic or natural backbones (such as PEG or HA). I also work on improving the reproducibilty of the hydrogels by automating liquid handling. In addition, I test the hydrogels in 3D bioprinting and check the chemical and physical properties in order to improve the formulation.Dynamic BiomaterialsSupervisor: Prof Dr Aránzazu del Campo and Dr Samuel Pearson

Field: Computational Chemistry and Medicinal ChemistryProject summary: The aim was to prevent the Ebola virus to enter the human cells by blocking an essential protein-protein interaction. I studied the interaction between the human protein NPC1 and the Ebola’s glycoprotein (GP) by using different methods such as druggable pocket searching, docking and molecular dynamics.Supervisor: Prof Dr Ana Martínez, Dr Carmen Gil and Dr Nuria Campillo Field: Computational Chemistry and Medicinal ChemistryProject summary: The aim was to prevent the Ebola virus to enter the human cells by blocking an essential protein-protein interaction. Field: Organic Chemistry and Medicinal ChemistryProject summary: The aim was to prevent the entry of the Influenza virus by blocking an essential interaction between the human enzyme TTSP and the spike HA from the virus. I synthesized novel compounds by multicomponent reaction Ugi-3C and other methodologies in organic synthesis.Supervisor: Prof Dr María José Camarasa and Dr Sonsoles Velázquez Field: Organic Chemistry and Medicinal ChemistryProject summary: The aim was to prevent the entry of the Influenza virus by blocking an essential interaction between the human enzyme TTSP and the spike HA from the virus.
