As a member of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UCLA, I was involved in a research project on Complementarily Oriented Bulk Acoustic Resonators (COBAR) from November 2022 to the present. The project aims to measure the strain profile created by ion implantation of hydrogen ions into LiNbO3 wafers before exfoliating them and creating thin films. My primary responsibility was to use X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis and a simulation tool called RADS to help measure the strain profile of the implanted wafer. I also contributed to the planarization technique using Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) to help further wafer bonding. Through this project, I gained valuable skills in materials science and engineering, specifically in the areas of ion implantation, thin film fabrication, and planarization techniques. I also gained experience in using simulation tools such as RADS to measure the strain profile of the wafer. Additionally, I developed my ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other researchers in the lab. Overall, the COBAR project provided me with a unique opportunity to apply my skills in materials science and engineering to a real-world problem, and I gained valuable experience that will help me pursue my future career goals in this field. As a Teaching Assistant in the Physics and Astronomy Department at UCLA, I have had the privilege of working closely with both undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and laboratory settings. My responsibilities have included grading assignments and exams, leading discussion sections, and providing one-on-one assistance to students with questions and concerns. In my role as a TA, I have found that my communication skills have been critical to my success. I have had to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, and to adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of different students with varying backgrounds and learning styles. I have also been able to develop my interpersonal skills, working with professors, fellow TAs, and students to foster a collaborative learning environment. One of the most rewarding aspects of my experience as a TA has been watching students grow and develop over the course of a semester. Whether through mastering a difficult concept or achieving a higher grade than expected, I have found that supporting students in their academic journey has been incredibly fulfilling.Overall, my experience as a TA has taught me the value of clear communication, collaboration, and a passion for learning. I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to the education of students at UCLA and look forward to continuing to share my knowledge and expertise in the future. Show less

    • Risk Management Intern
      • Aug 2021 - Oct 2021

During my internship as a Risk Management Intern at Diginique techlabs in collaboration with IIT Ropar, I had the opportunity to work on a project involving the risk management of a steel plant in terms of pipeline construction. My main responsibilities were to identify potential risks and devise strategies to mitigate those risks. To achieve this, I conducted a detailed analysis of the project plan and timeline, identified critical areas, and assessed the likelihood and impact of potential risks. I utilized tools such as Primavera P6 software to manage the project schedule, mitigate financial risks, and ensure timely completion. One of the significant risks I identified was the loss of combustion gases used to reheat the blast furnace. To mitigate this risk, I recommended the implementation of a gas collection system and analyzed its feasibility and cost-effectiveness. The implementation of this system resulted in a 23.3% increase in efficiency, reducing the overall operational costs of the steel plant. Another critical risk was the possibility of delays in project completion due to unanticipated events such as labor strikes or natural disasters. To address this, I created contingency plans and established a risk management framework to ensure the project's timely completion. Overall, my experience as a Risk Management Intern has taught me the importance of proactive risk management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. I gained valuable experience working with industry professionals, managing complex projects, and leveraging advanced project management tools. -Utilized Primavera P6 software to decrease the project duration by 5% through mitigating financial risks. During my internship at Steel Authority of India Limited, Bhilai Steel Plant, I worked on a project related to phosphorus control in steel making. The project aimed to reduce the phosphorus content in steel to below 0.04% to meet the required specifications. My role was to assist the team in charge of the project by conducting various experiments and data analysis. I also helped in implementing statistical process control techniques and conducting regression analysis using Minitab software to optimize the process. Through this project, I gained experience in the different stages of steel production and learned about the various factors that affect phosphorus control, such as temperature, pH, and chemical reactions. I also gained experience in using statistical tools to analyze process data and optimize process parameters. Overall, my experience in phosphorus control allowed me to develop my problem-solving skills and technical knowledge, as well as my ability to work effectively in a team environment. Show less
