The office had an extensive practice that witnessed a considerable number of cases argued each day in courts across jurisdictions. During this period, I: 1) Observed proceedings in the District Court, Sessions Court, Magistrate's Court, Family Court, the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, Karnataka Services Tribunal (KST) and Karnataka Services Appellate Tribunal (KSAT). 2) Researched in matters that primarily dealt with the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act the Prevention of Corruption Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, the Limitations Act, Karnataka Lokayukta Act, Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, Karnataka Wildlife Protection Rules, Prohibition of Benami Transactions Act, Arbitration & Conciliation Act as well as various State Government guidelines on appointment, transfer and promotion of individuals employed in various grades of state services. 3) The prominent provisions and doctrines I studied in this process are: (i) Writ of Mandamus and Quo Warranto (ii) The doctrine of ' pay and recover' in cases of insurance (iii) Guidelines for pension and gratuity when individuals working in the public sector attain superannuation. (iv) Procedure for Lokayukta or Upa-Lokayukta for initiating disciplinary proceedings against a public official. (v) Various grounds and submissions in perusal of which a non-bailable warrant can be quashed as well as grounds on which an anticipatory bail can be sought for even in cases where the accused has been charged with acts of a serious nature.
