While mostly a stay-at-home mom since 2002, working at the NYWCC helped expand my knowledge of wines, beers and spirits. In particular, I became an expert on NY wines and the regions of the state. I was also able to take part in numerous training classes including WSET, a spirit education class and NY wines vs. the World to name a few. As a Board Member of this non-profit organization, I voted to make changes to the organization to optimize our resource efficiency. In addition, we chose agencies to receive grant money from the JLR and narrowed our focus to enhancing the lives of teenaged women. This was a great organization for developing my leadership and cooperative skills.
