New Leaders Foundation is a non-profit organisation working in partnership with government to implement systemic change in education through district transformation. NLF’s work aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning in South Africa through improved district support to schools. Over a four year period, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Education, NLF has developed the innovative District Service Support Programme (DSSP). The focus of the DSSP is on building key district officials into curriculum management and delivery coaches through full-time immersed coaching and a formal accredited training programme. The emphasis of the model is on supporting district officials in changing their approach to management, both internally and externally, and how they provide support and development to schools. NLF’s work is based on the premise that improved district service support to schools has a direct impact on improving the quality of learning in the classroom. Show less
