I began working at Vicki's Seafood Restaurant after my first year of university. This job gave me the opportunity to further develop my customer service and public speaking skills. I was able to interact with numerous customers and establish meaningful relationships, which improved my attention to detail and interpersonal skills. There were many responsibilities with this job, including: Opening and closing the restaurant, doing inventory, signing cheques and filing paperwork, completing a ring off at the end of the shift, training new servers, and cleaning. • North Corner Grill
    • Kentville, Nova Scotia
    • Server
      • Oct 2013 - May 2015

This was my first job as a waitress. I began working at the North Corner Grill when I was in Grade 11. I was responsible for opening the restaurant every Sunday and worked by myself until lunchtime. This experience allowed me to get used to working in a fast paced environment and the ability to effectively multitask. I gained knowledge of the POS system, which will help in future serving jobs as I will be able to quickly learn and adapt to other POS systems. I was responsible for carrying my own float and completing a ring off at the end of my shift, which provided me with the necessary skills to resolve any problems that may have occurred through the process of ringing orders in and closing them out. Other responsibilities included: Locking up the restaurant, stocking up supplies, and training new servers. I have maintained relationships with many of the customers that often went to the diner and establishing these relationships has had a large impact on the type of server I am. I prioritize the customer's experience and enjoyment by having a positive attitude, detailed knowledge of menu items to answer questions, and the ability to quickly resolve any problems. Show less

  • Callister's Country Kitchen
    • Coldbrook, Nova Scotia
    • Busser
      • Jun 2013 - Aug 2013

This was my first job in the service industry. I worked at Callister's Country Kitchen over the summer when I was 15. This gave me the opportunity to develop skills as a hostess and introduced me to other tasks within the industry, such as filling in to wash dishes, setting and clearing tables, and greeting customers. All of these skills have helped to create a strong work ethic, the ability to work in a fast paced environment, and to work together with coworkers to ensure that customer's have the best experience.
