I am working in the Stress and Early Adversity (SEA) Lab at Vanderbilt University under Dr. Katherine Humphreys studying how children's experiences are associated with development. Current projects include studying mitigation of risks from early adversity via intervention, trajectories of emotional reactivity across pregnancy and individual differences in transition to parenthood. As an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Michael Hoerger's Psycho-Oncology Research Program, I am involved in research aimed to improve quality of life by alleviating the emotional and physical burden of cancer. I examine how psychosocial factors such as thoughts, emotions, and behaviors contribute to disease outcomes. I got the opportunity to shadow Dr. Mary Kosinski, the director of Clinical Research at Premier Medical Group. I learned about the different actives studies, mostly studies regarding treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Additionally, I learned about how studies begin, the protocol implemented, the informed consent form, and working with patients as research participants. I am honored to get to have worked with Mary Kosinski and her team. Additionally, I shadowed Dr. Joseph Kosinski in family medicine and was able to learn about all different kinds of medical terms and diagnoses presented to the patient in a well-versed, clear and concise way with an excellent bedside manner.
