I was pleased with the pragmatic advice that Adam gave me, he listened a lot more than other lawyers I have dealt with in the past and instead of prescribing me generic options he really took on board what I was saying and gave me his best advice for my specific query. He was particuarly reluctant about recommending an expensive solution for me which I always think is a good sign of a great lawyer!

Working in this friendly firm, my workload is a mix of civil litigation, non-contentious matters, probate, and mental health/Court of Protection law.I maintain my own caseload covering the areas mentioned above and am given complete autonomy within my own matters. I have completed my training to become a member of the Law Society Mental Health Tribunal Panel, which gives me rights of audience before the Mental Health Tribunal. I am working on building the company's employment law practice up, and these private clients bring valuable income to our bottom line. I deal with issues such as settlement agreements, disciplinary and grievance matters and discrimination law.I use my contacts to bring business into the firm, and am proud that my work leads to repeat business and recommendations from previous clients as well as other firms when they have no capacity to take on matters.I achieve ambitious billing targets and contribute my spare time to charitable endeavours that the company supports.

I work as a legal volunteer for this community based law centre providing legal advice to the local community on diverse areas ranging from immigration and asylum, housing law, employment related issues, family law and youth law.I am responsible for providing advice to clients over the telephone and conducting case conferences at BCLC premises in a diverse area of North West London, I conduct conferences in English, French and Spanish as required. Cases are tracked using LAM and CaseTrack for purposes of case management as well as for billing and cost recovery. I carry out a mixture of legal aid funded and privately funded work, so costs management and effective working is extremely important.I liaise with TSol on individual cases to secure positive outcomes for clients as well as with law firms acting for other parties in litigation.Due to extremely tight financial constraints I have to manage expectations and sensitively signpost people to appropriate agencies when BCLC is unable to assist. The position gives me an insight into the work of a high street law firm and the challenges facing the local population through the impact of the legal aid reforms and welfare and benefit changes.
