Operational Fraud Advisor
-
Oct 2013 - Nov 2021
I work as part of an industry-leading counter-fraud team. The Operational Fraud team handles requests generated internally by our Fraud Intelligence team, as well as those from our insurer partners. We also handle inbound inquiries from our customer service colleagues, as well as direct emails from policyholders. Our remit also covers the detection and investigation of false No Claims Discount, chargebacks, indemnities as well as allegations of Ghost Broker activity, identity theft, and fraudulent use of an address. My wider role includes;Managing the team reporting functions. Ensuring all reports are distributed on time, accurately and that the content and reporting methods are up to date.Deputising for my line manager in their absence. This involves covering annual leave, but also handling queries from around the business, managing workflows and issuing feedback.Constantly innovating with ideas such as new reports, new metrics on existing reports, reviewing workstreams, investigative techniques, fixes to errors and frequent points of friction, improving user experience and streamlining of processes.I also actively participate in a number of representative roles within BGL. I currently represent my department in employee engagement and as a workplace Ally, providing colleagues with someone to turn to if they are in need of support. In addition, I play touch rugby for the BGL Blues and I have been involved in numerous initiatives for various charities.

I worked in a variety of roles for Blue Arrow during University holidays and immediately after my graduation. Roles included waiting tables, kitchen portering and cleaning for a number of employers. I obtained long term work for one client company who took me on for cleaning services within the NHS. This itself involved not only the cleaning side in multiple locations, but also in the internal supply chain and driving the company van to resupply sites. My first job, I started working here on a casual basis and soon found myself as working not only weekend events, but covering busy periods and staff holidays over school holidays and the summer. This continued through college into my time at University. I was kept on by two new owners until University commitments took over. The role was to work in functions and banquets, waiting tables, serving business meetings, running a coffee lounge and carrying bags to bedrooms. This was firstly to cover any shortfall in staff during weekends. By the end of my time there, I was one of the main staff in my department and worked in conjunction with my Head of Department (HOD) and various managers in creating the weekly rota, checking staff for quality and giving on the job training, looking after work experience children shadowing me and even as the first choice stand in at HOD meetings when my HOD was unavailable.
