Other daily duties include completing credit checks on customers, setting up new accounts on the system and gaining trade references. The rest of my duties include taking payments and posting them to the account as well as calling customers and following up by e-mail and keeping records of conversations had whether that is for Pro Forma or credit payments. I have also been collating information and creating analysis spreadsheets for the senior management team to review on a weekly basis. Furthermore, I am currently developing the international customer base by sourcing and searching out potential clients and making initial contact with future potential customers. Show less

Washington, England, United Kingdom I started as an apprentice and during my employment I was involved in many areas of the business. Organizing the outside staff’s submission paperwork, handling client calls, making calls to potential clients as well as being heavily involved with form completion and Invoicing of the work for the customers. All of this work was based on computers using excel, e-mail and telephone on a daily basis. All of this work was based on computers using excel, e-mail and telephone on a daily basis. This allowed me to develop my skill set and knowledge in completing tasks alone and working as part of a team. When my apprenticeship was completed in January 2015 due to my ability to learn, adapt and complete tasks handed to me and my ability to perform under pressure during busy periods I was offered a full-time position with the company. I was fortunate to get myself involved with a company that allowed me to again further my understanding of day to day business. During my period of work placement, I had the opportunity to do product comparison not only across different categories but also across Europe, Middle East and African markets (EMEA). This task was given to me by the General Manager and had to be completed in excel and presented to him with my findings. During my period of work placement, I had the opportunity to do product comparison not only across different categories but also across Europe, Middle East and African markets (EMEA). This task was given to me by the General Manager and had to be completed in excel and presented to him with my findings. This gave me further understanding of how companies work with software such as excel and the amount of information and data that can be manipulated so they can consider future strategies for their business. In addition to this I again had the opportunity to work on unpacking and setting up of samples in the showroom and then worked alongside the sales person as they had customers visit the showroom to do their ordering of the products. After completing 1 week’s work experience I asked the company if it would be possible that I could return in the 6 weeks holiday from school to gain a further grounding in working in an actual company. The company agreed to let me return and during this period I worked alone on getting the samples ready for future ordering season given a time specific task to complete. I also gained further experience in the ordering and warranty department.
